QR Codes

Interactivity. The marriage of QR codes on to printed pieces bring the two worlds together rather nicely. It is the printed piece that gives the call to action (QR Code) which has the url for the webpage which has the details of the transaction. On the back of our Business Cards we are starting to put the QR Code which directs the user to specials on our website. The advantage to the technology is that anyone with a smart phone can download a free app (I use red laser) that reads bar codes or QR Codes. The QR Code can be generated for free (Google QR Code generator and you'll get dozens). I found out that they are not all alike. The one that Minuteman supplied us was a 10 on the lame-o meter. It was so blah, it was awful.
There were several very cool ones that point directly to your url or will upload all your contact information to contacts on the iPhone simply by scanning.
I see tons of applications for this technology. You will start to see it on the front door of businesses, magazine ads, I even saw one on the back of a t-shirt at MacWorld Expo in San Francisco that said "Scan me!"
Let me know of creative ideas that you have for QR Codes, I'd love to share...
